As a constant traveller of the country, i am amazed how bad the situation is. Where there are loos, these usually close at around 5pm. What happens after then? I dont mind paying to go, there is certainly an opening here for some body to start opening private loos. say 10p a go.

The decline of the public toilet in the UK has been long and slow.

I don't know what it was that the Thatcher government had against public conveniences - but when she slashed public expenditure public toilets were out - and we have been sinking into an ocean of the green stuff ever since.

India used to be terrible for pools of urine - then the Indian authorities woke up and installed urinals - right now the UK is worse than India for public conveniences.

At least in India I can find somewhere to go without being arrested - in the UK if I am unlucky I could end up on the sexual offenders register.

Public conveniences are just that - public and convenient - and they should be tucked away everywhere where there are people - and usable for free.

Anything else is a health hazard and just proves that we are less civilised that the Romans, Greeks and, yes, even the modern Indians.
