Heather,

Sorry about this being off topic but I need advice.

Across the London Borough of Newham there are huge pink posters highlighting all new environmental improvements they all have the word "brought to you by the Mayor of Newham."

I sent in a FIOA request asking about the funding of some improvements planned for one park (I'd already made the point on my blog that I doubted if the Mayor was footing the bill personally).

I got the info I asked for but with this statement: "We trust that the information provided is satisfactory. You are free to use the information for your personal use only. Any other type of re-use, for example, publishing the information or issuing copies to the public will require permission of the copyright owner. If the Council is the copyright owner, a licence can be applied for under the Re-use of Public Sector Information Regulations 2005."

I've put in copious FOI requests before now, and have used the info on my blog and on public forums (which I know the Town Hall monitors).

I read this as shutting down dissenting voices in the lead up to an election; what can I do about it?

Thanks to all who responded. I now have a company doing this work (<a href="http://www.onetrickponycreative.co.uk/" rel="nofollow">One Trick Pony</a>) and the new website should be launching at the end of March 2010. Stay tuned...

Do us oldies with cheapo machines a favour and keep it simple, tidy, and straight. Also without flashy stuff that spooks the antivirus and makes the eyes go wobbly. It is what you have to say that matters.
