Dear Ms Riddy

I am writing to make a FOIA request for information relating to the prosecution of rape cases, annually since 2000. Specifically:

  • The number of rape cases referred to CPS (by date and referring authority);
  • Which of these are prosecuted;
  • Of those not prosecuted, the reason for not proceeding with prosecution
  • .

My preferred format to receive this information is by searchable, electronic database. I imagine this may also be the easiest method for you if you have an electronic records system, but if these reports are only available in manual form then perhaps we can arrange another method (such as inspection of the records). If you estimate that answering this request will prove excessively costly or burdensome, could you please let me know and we can discuss ways to gather the information more efficiently (perhaps narrowing the time frame).

I understand that under the act, I am entitled to a response within 20 working days. I would be grateful if you could confirm in writing that you have received this request. If you have any questions or need further clarification please feel free to contact me via telephone, email or post.
